Social Listening- ELF Cosmetics

       by Emma Confer The brand I chose is E.L.F. Cosmetics, standing for eyes, lips, and face. They have recently been gaining social media attention because of the recent product drop of the Glow Reviver Lip Oil. The reason being for this spike of interest for the brand is that it is a duplicate product (referred to on social media as dupes) for a popular and expensive product, Dior Lip Glow Oil. I was initially interested in this because Elf Cosmetics has made a name for themselves by producing cheap makeup products that very closely resemble more high-end makeup brands.  Their value proposition is that their customers should have access to clean beauty that is never tested on animals. Social Listening- NFL- Travis and Taylor

     The brand I selected is one that is getting a lot of social media attention at the moment, and that is the NFL. Besides from their loyal demographic, they have recently gained a lot of attention from new and unexpected viewers, Taylor Swift fans. Fans of Travis Kelce, Kansas City Chiefs, and Taylor Swift alike were all united when news got out about the well established tight end and singer's new relationship. I was initially interested in this article because of the nature of this unlikely pairing, but grew to be charmed from the welcoming nature of NFL fans towards their new audience.         The value proposition of the NFL is to unite people and inspire communities in the joy of the game of football. Right now, their marketing team is doing just that, uniting seemingly polar opposites together. Hi! My name is Emma and I am from Tualatin, Oregon. I’ve lived in that general area my entire life which includes the surrounding cities of Aurora and Wilsonville. I am getting my degree in business, so it was kind of a given that I would be enrolled in this class at some point. Marketing as a whole is relatively new to me and I’m excited to learn more about communicating with different target audiences and seeing which methods of obtaining audience's attention work and which are major failures in the marketing world. I’m also excited to be able to “sell” something whether it is a product or a concept, and I think it will make me more convincing as a person.  An aspect of myself that I am always willing to explore more is trying new food, especially in cities that I am visiting and won’t get the chance to try again any time soon, so I might as well take advantage of the foods that aren’t available to me in my hometown.
